Hi J.Salinas, I'm not entirely sure of the question, but if you are asking ifour items will pair with Colombian food, yes it, because they're both south american cuisine, they will pair well. I hope that answered your question, if not please let me know. Warm regards, Joseph
Hi J. Salinas, Yes we accept chip cards, swipe cards as well as cash. Thank you, Joseph
The empanadas here are really good, I specially like the pastry they use. I'm not giving it 5 stars just cause I think that $6 for one empanada is way too much
Love it! Got it for $6+tax.
For $7 yes it's pretty expensive but I'll say the lamb empanada I had with the chimichurri sauce was excellent! Yum!
I don't eat empanadas often, but this is the best one I've had. There are vegetarian options, and the large ones are $6, but IMO it's worth it. It's a good snack, since for a meal you probably would want 2 or 3. There are warmed ones in the cases, but they also have frozen ones to take home. I opted for the fugazzeta, which is cheddar cheese and oregano and another spice. This empanada had a soft, flaky, chewy crust, and had excellent flavor throughout.
Absolutely delicious.
Great place for delicious quick food. For having a million customers an hour (might be an exaggeration) they managed to always make me feel like my order was important when I got to the front of the line and were willing to explain just what each menu option was. Muy Bueno!
I think I found my new Ferry Building lunch spot. I usually am not down with paying $6 for an empanada, but we are in the FiDi and a lunch for less than $10 is good value by San Francisco standards. The carne empanada was generously filled with grass fed beef (did you hear me? GRASS fed beef) and the olives and seasoning blended well together. Pair it with one of their $3 dulces and you got a budget lunch in the FiDi. I wasn't that big of a fan of the banana y dulce de leche as it was just too saucy for my taste with very little banana, but I'll try the manzana next time. Don't forget to grab some of their housemade chimichurri sauce; nice empanada topping.
We had El Porteño cater one of our holiday parties and it was a hit! They were very professional, and the empanadas were absolutely DELICIOUS--perfect for party food! The crust is baked to a dark brown color, the fillings are always fresh & juicy, and the flavors are so perfect. I've had empanadas from a lot of different places (even homemade ones by my Argentinian friends), but they are hands down the best --crust and filling. My favs are the traditional, mushroom/champignon, shrimp one (TO DIE FOR!), and the chicken.
Very good empanadas, they are big and full of flavors.
I have tried different empanadas from other countries and by far, this Chef right here, actually takes the price. His craft on this empanada makes you feel all warm inside. Meat taste blends well with the cheese and the empanada dough just observe all the ingredients without falling apart. You can taste the quality of the ingredients the Chef uses. Plus , gave me some tips of how to embrace the taste with the sauce.
A lot of different flavors of empanadas. You get them warm, smell good, taste yummy. Great place at the ferry building.
Ordered on line, delivered next morning. Really.excellent food
Some of the best sweet and savory empanadas in the Bay Area.
Excellent Empanadas - Fantastic Service - Delicious Pollo, flaky and crispy crust, packed with chicken, onions, and raisins - Do not forget their sauce, it truly adds a punch! :)))))
I don't know if it was because I was starving, or if the ingredients and the way they prepare these empanadas is truly from the heavens, but oh my Lord, the empanada I had was superb!
Argentine empanadas in the SF Ferry Building. A little spendy, like everything else in the city. Grab a couple of empanadas and head outside to the farmer's market or just sightseeing. Food is good with a nice variety of both savory and sweet. Only downside-- it's pre-prepared, not cooked to order. Worth checking out in a place with a lit if choices.
Located inside the Ferry Building Marketplace, El Porteno seem to have a good following with a decently long line, so we decided to try it. The Empanadas were ok, but nothing to write home about. I think the line was more because of the take-and-go value it offered as opposed to standing in line for a sit down restaurant.
Quick and fresh empanadas hit the spot when the lines for the other places are too long. It's on the pricy side (I'm used to paying $3-4 for one) but this is worth splurging once in a while! Get the herby garlicky sauce on the side, yum!!!
Crispy delicious empanadas. Only a limited supply of each, so the closer to closing the less there are!
ok like YES really delectable.
Fantastic, really tasty high quality pasties. Not cheap BUT they’re so so good
My husband lived in Argentina for two years and is very particular about his empanadas. He gives this place two thumbs up! We are obsessed with the Ferry building and all it’s goodies but never go without stoping here. Our favorite by far is the lamb empanada (even though the one pictured is not the lamb).
Amazing in so many ways!!! Spinach one favorite, ham and cheese great for breakfast, cherry delicious for dessert and the employees are super friendly! Can't wait to go back. Buen provecho!
The ham and cheese empanadas was simply scrumptious. Warm and soft on the inside, light and flaky on the outside. Perfect as a light snack that hits the spot. One of the must-visits at the SF Ferry Building.
The "Carne" one was interesting, the "jamon y queso" was mainly hard cheese. All in all not that overwhelming
Really enjoyed the empanada - so full of cheese.
Great pie, actually I’m not sure it’s called pie or what. But it’s still good. We took one beef and one chicken. If you came by Ferry Building then check it out for a second.
Of the four vegetarian empanadas I purchased to go, three were very tasty. The fourth one was empty of any filling. Very disappointing. Check your empanadas before you leave I guess?
Excellent food, pastry is rich and flaky and the fillings packed with flavour. Not so cheap but a quality product which is fully worth the price. I like to buy two, one is not quite enough for me but two is very filling and I wouldn't want to try more than that. Shop is in a great location and I love having a walk along the embarcadero and then enjoying a couple of these terrific empanadas whenever I visit SF.
Latin American food, delicious. Got there near six, it wasn't packed at all. I had a brother come into town and he asked me to go back here. The prices are good for what you get.
latin american food and the setting here is very good. This place is absolutely outstanding. The staff was very friendly and kind. The place has a cool feel to it.
Ok place for latin american food. I look forward to a return visit. The bill was appropriate for the quality.
The empanadas were tasty, although a bit oily, the line was reasonable, and the staff was as lovely as it gets in a grab and go place. While the experience was all in all enjoyable, I thought it was not a very good taste to price ratio. I did not taste the whole menu, so maybe other offerings were better.
Tried both champinones and acelga. champinones was pretty good but acelga was a little bland.
Always good. They have specials and I went on the day they had a lamb one which was awesome. They’re a bit rich so you can probably get away with just two. Banana empanada is a must try.
We tried three different empanadas (6$ each), and they were just great. Warm and flaky, each bite was perfect.Well I don't have much experience with empanadas, but the friend is an Argentinian and she said it was the best she has ever had.
Great place to visit. I had a shrimp empanada and a chicken empanada they were great. Loved their food and the environment. I will be returning soon.
The real deal! Buttery and light dough, top quality filing, a little bit pricey for the size of the empanada. Crispy delicious empanadas. Only a limited supply of each, so the closer to closing the less there are. Champions with local food.
A tiny slice of Argentina in a main corner of the Ferry Building. Good veggie options and varied beverages including coffee (obv) and maté. Also had some sweets, specifically polvorones. The empanadas are nice and flakey and taste savory :) I really enjoyed this!
Delicious empanadas 😋
The Empanadas were OK. But I wasn't super impressed. They were pretty well filled but a couple lacked as much flavor as I was hoping for.
Pricey but delicious. I recommend the mushroom and cheese empanada.
I really like these empanadas, and I think they are the best in the city (fried empanadas are in a different category) when they are on top of their game. However, I have found quality to be somewhat inconsistent. It's generally good, but not always the piping hot, perfectly cooked experience I know they are capable of delivering. Favorites here are the must-have fugazetta (cheese and onion) and camarones (shrimp and cheese). It's a bit pricey, but well worth a try if you have never had it.
Tried the pollo, carne and fuzzageti which were soft and pastry just right.
Food halls are my favorite. We always discover the best places in them. These empanadas were the best I've ever had. We got a Jamón y Queso and a Banana y Dulce de Leche. They were incredible. The dough was so flavorful and very different than any other empanada dough I've had. The savory empanadas are pretty big compared to other empanada. The dessert empanadas are on the smaller side. We tried several different restaurants in San Francisco. All were great, but nothing compared to these empanadas. These are a must try!
Loved the Empanadas! Yamon i Queso was delicious! Good prices and location in the ferry building. Grab a quick bite before catching the ferry :)
What a place, when for a morning coffee and find this amazing coffee shop. Totally retro and old fashioned, the Empanadas where so good, and you must also try the house made alfajores. The store is inside the market place and it is the perfect way to start a morning in San Francisco
